Scan

The Scan module in DocView Capture enables direct document acquisition from TWAIN-compatible scanners and multifunction printer (MFP) devices, as well as import from folder locations.

It offers flexible options for image quality, color modes (black & white, grayscale, color), and scan profiles based on document types and processing needs.

Scan Process

Scanning Approaches

DocView supports two operational scanning methods, depending on your team structure and workload type.

1. One-Touch Scanning

A streamlined, real-time scanning process where scanning, document separation, classification, and indexing are done immediately in sequence.

Steps Involved:

Document Preparation:

Physical documents are sorted, aligned, and clipped.

Remove staples or folds to ensure a cleaner feed.

Arrange pages as per document types (e.g., form, ID proof, application).

Scanning:

The operator selects a predefined capture profile and starts the scan.

The system captures each page as per resolution and format settings.

Page Separation:

Documents are separated automatically using techniques like

Blank Page Detection

Barcode Separators

Fixed Page Count

Or manually post-scan.

Classification:

Each document is identified using

Layout templates

Keywords

Or manually by the user.

Indexing:

Relevant metadata fields are populated (e.g., Name, ID, Date).

Can be auto-filled using OCR or lookup or manually by the operator.

2. Batch Scanning

This process allows users to scan and register batches of documents in bulk during the initial scanning stage. Document separation is either performed during scanning or deferred for later. Once the batch is captured, it proceeds through the classification, data extraction, and indexing stages in subsequent modules, enabling a flexible, multi-stage document processing workflow.
